I was feeling a little stuck last week and I walked past a shop that was playing a Dr Dre song.
“What’s the difference- between me and you? You talk a good one but you don’t do what you’re supposed to do.”
I was suddenly unstuck. The thing I wanted to happen hadn’t yet happen because I hadn’t done all of the necessary work.
This is pretty common in my experience. We do all the stuff we are most comfortable with but avoid the only thing that sits just outside of our comfort zone.
Anyway, that isn’t my point here. The point is I knew that already. I’ve heard it a thousand times.
The Stoic Figurehead
Marcus Aurelius – all around more quotable human said something along the lines of:
We less often need to learn than we need to be reminded.
Food for example is supposed to be the demonstration of our efforts. Your food is how you inform yourself of your value. It is how you demonstrate to those around you what they mean to you.
It is NOT Fuel.
It is connection, fellowship, self worth, love, Your desire to stay alive and enjoy that life.
We already know this, we go to restaurants, we cook for friends, we celebrate occasions.
If we live by it we would need no other nutrition advice and we could dedicate ourselves full time to the musings of Dr Dre.
